I heard about a startup company trying to deploy some fast wireless service
in the area and it is not Sprint. My neighbor went to a confrence at the
Fairmont and told me that they plan to launch in the beginning of 2001.
Anyone else heard of this? Any info would be great, I am fed up with IDSL
being slow.

Could they be talking about Ricochet? They're at 128K now and plan to

Not "in the area" per se, but both www.starband.com and www.direcpc.com are
rolling out two way satellite services.
Starband is available now. DirecPC is currently a hobbled
download-http-only service, with modem link for everything else, moving to
two way satellite "soon".
