YWCA needs Volunteer Tutors

The YWCA in Santa Clara Valley is in need of volunteer tutors for:

10 Elementary school-age child care centers in the San Jose area. Contact

Two At-risk teen programs in Santa Clara County

Transitions - a collaboration with Juvenile Probation needs tutors for
teens 11 - 18 in the downtown San Jose location, at school locations county
wide and at the Gilroy location. The teens and their parents are in a year
long program including Survival Skills Training, Job Club, Employment,
Academic Tutoring and assistance with college applications, Parent
Education, Restitution and Community Service and Follow-up Support.
Currently tutors are needed Thursdays in San Jose and Wednesdays in Gilroy.
School locations and dates to be determined once school starts. Contact

New Options - a Teen pregnancy prevention program located at Overfelt High
School in San Jose. Needs tutors in its after-school Homework Help
program. The program consists of Academic Assessment and Homework Help,
College placement assistance, Job Club and Employment, Family Life and Sex
Education (including Parent Education and ESL classes for parents), Self
Discipline through Lifetime Sports, self-esteem through the Arts, Mental
Health Services and a Free on-site Health Care Center. All services are
bilingual English/Spanish. Bilingual Tutors are needed in all subjects.
