I found myself needing to run an errand to Valley Fair (that other mall
on Stevens Creek and Winchester) and walked past Anderson Bakery. The
place was doing a spanking business and smelled great but I was on a
mission at the other end of that labyrinth so did not get a chance to
dawdle.

Has anyone been there, tried any of the breads, or maybe noshed on a
daily special?

Andersen is in fact a very well regarded name in bakeries. Their
shops in Japan are wonderful. Related to the Andersen's of
Pea Soup Fame? Dunno. But 'the guess is' --- no, if those
pastries available at the Buellton restaurant are any indication.

Assuming it's Andersen Bakery... I've been to the one in Japantown.
Bread is pretty fresh. Hubby likes their burnt cream. (One of the few
times he would sacrifice his dairy allergy...) I like their chocolate
croissants... :-P~~ The prices for their burnt cream and flan are
pretty good too!!! :-)

Speaking of Japantown...

1) Sad to see that Benihana are no longer running their takoyaki
stands.
And I doubt they are serving takoyakis at the restaurant too! :-(

2) Highly recommend Suzu (downstair kitty corner from Juban...) for
their curry katsu rice!!! Their ramen isn't too bad either... but
the curry... I definitely recommend it!!! (It's not too spicy or salty
but it still has TONS of flavors!!! YUM YUM!!!) :-P~~

Cheers,
Joanna

Used to be the Grain d'Or which was started by an immigrant French
family. The traditional french breads they had are all quite good and
authentic. The family quickly got very inventive and start offering
original bread creations. Their Butter France is excellent but has to
be eaten fresh. The new owners have not changed the selection or
recipes so it is still an excellent place to get bread and pasteries.
I recommend their pain de campaigne.
