BA fixtures have been disappearing while my back was turned. Has
anyone seen Alita pasta, lately? It was made in Oakland, and places
like Cosentino's would stack it up in front of the store.

It came in brown corrugated cardboard boxes, with a two color logo on
the end (IIRC). I was thinking of it because they produced a million
shapes, and I was getting bored with what we'd been eating lately.
Google says the factory is becoming a residence for AIDS patients.
Sfgate says the company name was D. Merlino & Sons. If it went belly
up, it sure did so quietly.

Rattos (years and years ago) used to carry it. That was good pasta
and as you said, they carried a million shapes, it seemed. Nice
flavor...good texture.

Even John Thorne mentioned it in one of his books....

Corti Bros in Sacramento used to carry it as well.. Don't know if
they still do...

We sure miss the old Rattos. It not the same place since Martin left. I get
depressed when I enter. Is it still run by his daughter?

Didn't go belly up. One brother died and the other retired. He's alive and well into his 90's with health issues. They just simply closed.
