Monterey Wharf Rip-Off

I'm a fairly easy-going and forgiving fellow, generally. But I forgot
(silly me) to avoid tourist traps and other "touristy" areas for
dinner. Thus, it will be no surprise to anyone when I relate (IMHO) the
poor food quality, overly-salted and itty-bitty portions at one of those
on-the-wharf restaurants. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the inattentive
wait staff. And there's more, but why beat a dead horse...

(In my business, one of the most valuable assets you can have is
SATISFIED CUSTOMERS.)

Yes, yes, I know. I should have known better. Ah well, at least others
can benefit from my mistake. Just for the record:

Restaurant: Rappa's
Location: On the Monterey Wharf
Caveats: Though the restaurant is listed on the Monterey tourism web
site, it's still a rip. Caveat emptor **3 !!!

(Too bad there isn't an alt.tourist.ripoff usenet group.)

Maybe the excess salt is to make you buy more of their over-priced wine?

We had this same thread a year ago, after I got back from Monterrey. I
ate at Rappa's this year, as I did last year. I liked it, and thought
that it was an OK deal. If you expect the same quality food at the same
price at a place that's at the end of the wharf in a touristy place as
somewhere else, you will be disappointed. I didn't and wasn't. Maybe the
fact that I had lunch this year and the early-bird dinner last year was a
factor. Also, the portions may have been adequate because I'm trying to
lose weight and my stomach expects less food than I used to.
