Bob's is probably the best doughnut shop in the City, IMHO.
Available for only a very limited of time in a limited quantity.

How do they compare to Stan's on Homestead in Santa Clara?
Stan's are excellent, but Bob's I think are slightly better. For some
reason, I usually end up with fresher (more recently made) donuts at Bob's,
so maybe that's why prefer Bob's slightly over Stan's. Both are excellent
doughnut shops, IMHO.
Also at Bob's, they make an excellent apple fritter besides great donuts.

I like Bob's, but I haven't been there in years. I'm still digesting a
donut I got there in 1999:

Should I be surprised that someone with your attitude toward sugar has
(probably?) tried all of the donut shops in San Francisco? :-)
[Note I stuck in the same hedge word as you did.]

I haven't tried them all (hence my use of the word probably). But I have
tried enough, including other shops that other people had recommended in the
past, to say Bob's is probably the best. But if you know one that could be
better, please let us know.
(Back in the dark days, before I knew better, I used to eat a lot of
doughnuts. Doughnuts back then were my favorite breakfast food.)
