Here's who and why:

The Good:
Jade Tree (Cupertino) -- excellent service, fine food, always made in
time that they give you (if ordering take out.)
Tsing Tao (Campbell) -- consistent service, consistent food - not always
what I expect after ordering, though - (e.g.: twice cooked pork; Tabasco
added for "lift"), take out orders are quick! I've never found a restaurant
that can produce order after order so quickly!

The Bad:
China Gourmet (Mountain View) -- had a REALLY rotten experience from the
time we walked in, till we walked out without ordering. Complained to
manager and won't every go back.
Shang Yun (San Jose) -- over-priced, poor service, had to ask four
different servers for water, tea, and rice... Server then complained to me
about not "getting tipped." When I told him to get the manager, a language
barrier suddenly developed... Won't be going back there, either.

The Ugly:
Two places here to REALLY avoid:
Loon Wah (Cupertino) -- since they moved *(twice)* nothing has been
acceptable. They do not have adequately trained servers, the servers that
are there are rude, rushed, and forgetful. Went into the bathroom once to
see a waiter walk out without washing his hands. Pointed it out to the
manager and they seemed surprised that I was making such a scene... Yeesh!
Mr. Chau's (Town and Country - San Jose) -- This place is the pits.
Don't waste your time...

You won't ever have the chance to go back. The place closed months ago. It's
now home to Vaso Azurro, an Italian/French restaurant.

Pretty good.. Relatively tiny place though so it sometimes gets really packed.

Other good:
New Szechwan - in the same lot as the Brittania Arms in Cupertino? San Jose?
near 85 and De Anza

Jade Garden in Sunnyvale (Bernardo & El Camino). Maybe not the greatest in
the world, but still pretty good and you get pretty huge portions. Maybe I'm
wrong, but it seems like they use bigger boxes for takeout than many places.
(And some things are in the styrofoam clamshell boxes -- those really have a
lot).

Heck no. Mr. Chau's is really good. I said this before, but I'll say it
again. Mr. Chau's is the McDonalds of Chinese food... and that's meant as a
compliment. It's cheap, and it's consistent...

As I mentioned yesterday -- King Salad is another good place for Mr. Chau's
like food..

Jade Garden gets my vote for being good for decades. Certainly it's small,
not fancy, it's had the same waiter/cook forever, and you can call ahead for
take-out. Much better than those "steam table" Chinese take-outs that seem
to be springing up everywhere (and just as cheap plus you get great hot and
sour soup with your take-out order).

Woh won-ton soup is great if you dine-in.

Have to agree FULLY on this one. Avoid it like the plague. Ever
since the new owner's took over it's been awful.

I went there ONCE after the ownership change and will never go there
again.

The food quality has plumeted, and the "service" is now typical
overseas Chinese... snooty attitudes and all.
