It's been a long time since we've made one, but the winter
weather has kindled a desire to make a steak and kidney pie,
only to find that none of the local (SJ) stores carries kidneys
anymore. We used to get them at the original Cosentino's.
They are also not at PW Super,
Safeway,
Lucky,
San Martin Meat store.

Thanks for any leads

You can find them and nearly any other organ meat at Union Foods at Union
and Foxworthy. It's actually on Foxworthy. It specializes in Turkish/Middle
Eastern foods and I suspect they do their own butchering since you can get
anything from hooves to tripe to Rocky Mountain oysters. Their lamb is
great.

Call "Peter" at Bryon's Meats (Laurel Village) on outer California St. If
he can't get them for you, he will tell you the best place in the area to
find good ones.

Your best bet is Chinatown - whether Oakland or downtown.
