I was asked: “How was the Big Band Celebration in San Jose?”

Saturday, the Big Band Celebration* was supposed to be four bands but the second one cancelled because, it was rumored, a couple of the musicians had tested “positive”.

The LyraTones† played at Noon, much too early for me but I had booked a room so that I could make it. When the second band, the outstanding Millennium Sounds, cancelled, I cancelled the hotel to depart from home at four o'clock.

The day's third (our first), Top Shelf Big Band's² attendance was sparse, the audience being about 1½ times the size of the band. The music was good for listening and dancing BUT not one dancer showed up. Fortunately, I had one with me.

The day's last band, the funked-up 7th Street Big Band³, had good attendance; the room almost full as is the norm. It was also good for listening and some dancing.

But not one dancer showed up. We had the very good floor to ourselves the entire time.

After the last note, we hit the street looking for the group of dancers we knew would be on the San José Jazz Summer Fest's** Club Crawl but we never found them.

Got home at exactly one o'clock.

Thank you for asking. Had you not, I would not have written this.
