I've been watching the latest edition of the KGO All Star debate, and
I'm surprised at how unprofessional it was. I'm not referring to the
debaters here, but rather to the the video production. Poor Gene Burns
and Ray Taliaferro: their backs are to the camera during the entire
debate! On second thought, maybe this was intentional... The camera is
focused 90% of the time on Owens and Gross.

Didn't someone else post almost the same words?

I for one don't give a rip what Gene Burns or Ray
Taliaferro's backsides look like, much less
what they're talking about in an "all star" debate.

A winter day spent somewhere else besides
Winnipeg is good. But a day without KGO
is as good as it gets.

My, Jim, what a sophisticated fellow you are! We're all so impressed
that you don't listen to KGO! You have better things to do with your
time, of course. Strange, though, that you'd take the time to
participate in a newsgroup and gravitate to any comment made about
that station.

I still say that the only real debate worth listening to would pit the KGO
folks against the KSFO staff (assuming that KSFO has any local talkshow hosts
anymore), or barring that, KNEW hosts.

Great pics, John! I'd love to go some day, but as I live in Europe,
it's not likely.

Any idea why Wattenberg opted out this time?

I think there's a good enough mix on the KGO staff without bring in
the hate mongers from KSFO. I'd really like to see someone besides Ray
giving the progressive perspective, though. Too bad Bernie's no longer
there. I'd love to see someone like him challenge some of the
assertions made by Rothmann, Owens, Gross, et al.

Every comment made in this newsgroup is about KGO.
Couldn't you take this to the moderated newsgroup which

Is there anyone on this newsgroup who (a) lives in the Bay Area

He's only right. That's the nature of democracy. The collective
electorate like the individual customer is never wrong. Obama
came into office with a list of backbreaking problems, and
a year into the project, isn't going to satisfy everybody.

But I don't think his Republican opposition is in any
better shape with people like Sarah Palin "threatening"
to run. He writes his own books; she does not. He
has brains; she has showmanship. His supporters
snicker at her; her supporters apologize for her

All my life I have been a community organizer, starting groups and putting on

that technology has a way of separating people, not bringing them together.
So many of those folks who lash out simply do not have the social skills to

This is the problem with NOT electing a political insider. This is a clear
reason NOT to elect Meg Whitman as governor. She should run for water board,
then maybe school board, city council, and then a statewide office, and only
THEN consider running for governor.

American voters are, for the most part, stupid. They elect outsiders like
Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzeneggar to office and then wonder why they
can't get anything done for the first 2 years they're in office.

If I were to suggest anybody to run for president I'd have suggested Dianne
Feinstein, or better yet, Willie Brown. They're insiders who know where all
the skeletons are, and they're smart enough to bring together compromises
without bruising egos.

You can take solace that the Democratic caucus 20-vote
plurality in the Senate has decreased to only 19. But in the
end, Palin who couldn't even finish one term as governor, is
completely unqualified to talk about running for the White
House. When you're president, you can't turn chicken at
your first crisis. Obama came into office with a list of crises.
Her very presence only serves to highlight this fact.

If the Teabaggers, birthers, and nutjobs want to regain
control of the GOP, who am I to stand in their way?!

Yes, she *could* have, but she had better things to do than
play governor all day, just as she had better things to do
than spending days writing a book.

It's pointless beyond this to talk of her as presidential
material. Sarah Palin is gutless; she has no
integrity. In a White House crisis, she'll fold.
There are no shortcuts at the place where the buck
stops.

If you can't see that, then argue with yourself.
She's ridiculous, and never mind that she's a

Nothing to argue about as to Palin...I am merely observing how inept

stupid. Obama is falling on his own. No Bush, No Palin, No

While we're on the off-topic of Palin, today's Wall Street Journal (owned by

I know, she is absolutely marvelous how she took the most bitter
lemons thrown at her and turned them into the most luscious lemonade.
She's made millions. Brava! to her. She's even surpassed John Madden
in capitalizing on that folksy "Aw shucks, I'd rather watch sports
than read a book" routine.

Like Madden, when faced with adversities, she has an uncanny ability
to adapt, improvise, and overcome them. She comes out smelling like a
rose, when mere mortals would come out smelling like shit. Such is the
most neutral and valid test to measure innate intelligence and she,
obviously, scores in, at least, the category of genius.

The point is that she's been portrayed among talkshow hosts and on newscasts
as some sort of grass roots leader when, in fact, she was paid $100,000 to do
that speech. That's not a grassroots effort at all. That's behind the scenes

So, she has it's a "portrayal" like so many celebrities who cash in on
such. That's all she is...a celebrity. She's not a holder of any
public office. That grass roots portrayal is all part of the "folksy"

Hello? She is not a candidate for any office.

Heh. This morning, you should have heard your hero Ray T toast the
holy shit out of the best the Democrats have to offer. Here are just a
few of his gems....Obama is a coward. Bush was a better president.
Obama is a horrible president. Obama has no balls. Obama is a HUGE
disappointment. Obama is as effective as a junior senator. Then he did
some funny bits mocking Obama. Not to mention the many callers who
agreed with what Ray T was saying, who said they had voted for Boy
Wonder...
