I've had the radio in Subject for years, and it's always been
troublesome trying to set the resets. The power went out recently, so I
get to do it again. Usually I recall how to do it. Not this time. It's
always been difficult, but no fumbling with combos of keys works. Anyone
know how. ICF-C233 model.

It has two rows of buttons with three buttons in each row. A third row
has five buttons for the preset stations. I'm pretty sure the rightmost
button in the first row is for the preset. It's the only cheap radio
I've seen that has presets, probably 12 years old.

Go here..

http://portablemedia.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sony/sony_clock_radio_product_list.html

Then choose the letter "D" for Dream Machine.
You will see several similar models.
I'm sure they operate almost the same.
I have a model but it is number 430 so I won't give you the
instructions, as you can read several variations on the site I gave
you.

Or even better yet, here

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/1401209/Sony---ICF-C233---Operating-Instructions-%C2%B7-English-010-Mb

You can read/see the actual manual

Hope that helps

Thanks very much. I had gotten part of the way through that site, but
gave up for some reason. The link did it. I had little success in trying
to print the manual, so I finally used SnagIt to catch the relevant
section. I've printed it and will place it under the radio.

The "trick" was to press the preset button (labeled enter), then press
the preset button wanted for the dial setting displayed. I kept hold the
Enter button and simultaneously holding down the preset button. Yikes!

LOVE the Interwebs. THANK YOU for this question and response. My DreamMachine has got to be 10 years old and I had no idea how to lock in the radio presets. Success!
