has mention of Purdue and Indiana University badging projects.

and interesting numbers from Educause (41% of the badges they issued in 2014 were accepted)

and also this, "Outside the classroom, institutions are beginning to see digital badges as a useful tool for professional development." - I am seeing many such comments, but having difficulty substantiating this beyond the Higher Ed. examples typically mentioned (plus Penn State, UC Davis, & Concordia UW.) Does anyone have evidence or research to share on that point on the business & industry side?

Have a great day! Carey Hamburg

Hi Carey,

Thanks for sharing! Most of the professional development examples I see are in the K-12 space. Laura Fleming from New Milford High School in NJ is the best example, her Worlds of Learning PD badging platform is being used by teachers in schools across the US, and possibly internationally.

The Workforce Working Group have an ongoing list of examples of uses of badges in the workforce, linked from their page on the BA site.

Here are the PD examples from industry that are on that list:
    • Piping Design Skills (Piping Design U)
    • RWA Consulting
    • Workforce Certifications
    • NOCTI - American Culinary Association(?)
    • ISACA - IT, Audit, Security and Risk Management

Obviously, this is just a handful of what's probably out there. If there are others that you guys know of, feel free to add to that etherpad at any time.

Thanks,
Jade

Thanks, Jade!

I had a very dynamic and informative discussion with Tom Wood at RWA in England about their Obelisk developments. I think he was a speaker for a BA call once? Would be great again and to hear updates.

Speaking of, do you have any word on when workgroups re-group for 2015? Thanks for all your leadership in that.
Have a great day!

Carey
