Hi,

I'm making a FAQ about badges for post secondary students, and was wondering what you think about the answer to the following question:

Are there privacy concerns with Open Badges?

Yes, there are privacy concerns with Open Badges as the Mozilla Backpack aggregates information about you via your badges.  Mozilla may analyze you based on the badges you collect, and combine this information with your browsing habits and your behaviour in online learning platforms. Further, this kind of analysis may be sold to marketers without your knowledge.  While you are given the option of deleting your Mozilla Backpack, you cannot delete Mozilla's analysis of you.  Privacy issues are currently under discussion in the Mozilla Open Badge community.

You can read Mozilla's Open Badges privacy policy here: https://backpack.openbadges.org/privacy.html

Thank you for your time.

Hi everyone,

The series of seven Web Literacy Map v2.0 community calls start on Monday. These will replace the Badge Alliance working group calls between cycles.

Details of first call
Date: Monday 20th October 2014
Time: 3pm UTC (8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST, 5pm CET, etc.)
Etherpad: http://mzl.la/1s9L4gz

The canonical link for everything related to WebLitMap2 is on the Mozilla wiki:
https://bit.ly/weblitmapv2

Things that might be helpful:

Note that we will not be using this forum for discussion around WebLitMap2 - this is just a heads-up. Feel free to get in touch directly with me with any questions. I've closed this topic so those only interested in Badge Alliance stuff don't feel like they're getting spammed.

Hopefully see you on Monday! :-)
