everything's good. had a nice time with all of you guys when we were there, specially our night outs. anyways, i opened this e-groups up so that we can simplify communications during the mentoring program. it would be good to have everyone throw out their ideas using this e-group mail address. in that way, we can all participate and / or be aware of the issues that are being raised.

 

hope all of you learned much during the training. as i've mentioned, the skills that you learned may not be applied on the front end of negotiations / contract preparations, but at least would give you an idea of the risks that the projects may have just by doing the project evaluation or contracts. hopefully, prof alonzo will also find this e-group as an easier way of communicating with the group.

Sorry medyo seryoso itong i-ra-raise ko ha.  Serious kasi talaga akong tao. wehehe.  Anyway..

(1) Can we provide a documentation mechanism for this mentoring program so that we don't contain only among the group for example Q&A results with Prof. Alonzo or whatever learning we get from our informal discussions?  Meaning, we can pass on (like the modules we were given) easily the knowledge to future trainors and protect the agency from brain-drain in the future.  Siguro make the mentoring program systematic lang and properly documented nga.

(2) Can we tap or collaborate with the NEDA in-house project appraisal team to improve our outputs (i.e., the manual and/or template) especially with regards to financial aspects of project evaluation? Although we have had extensive discussions on financial analysis of BOT projects in this PEGR training, some of us had not even undergone formal investment appraisal training and badly in need of hands-on exposure of actual financial study of BOT projects.  The project appraisal team experts might be able to answer this weakness in our team of course under the guidance of the consultants to make things cohesive.

(3)  Another question related to (2) is what would be the difference of the manual we will deliver under this project to the existing manual on Project Development and Evaluation taught in our investment appraisal seminars?  The two should supplement one another since they are not mutually exclusive.  Ours also should not be repetitive.

Very good points, Joy. These concerns were also raised by Sir Erick Planta. Maybe this can be the starting point of our discussion on how to go about the mentoring program.

Shouldn't our consultants with instruction from the bosses (from RGT to D/RSR, D/RMP, D/JLU) be the ones to lead us and give direction on this?  I'll try to ask but let's get an official answer from the bosses.

On another thought, tama ka Gina, maybe we really should meet na and formalize our concerns.  After all, we should be clear on what is expected from us eventually.  Although these expectations have been stated na rin yata before in previous communciations now is the time to emphasize them.  We hope our outputs would really give added value to the current system.

Grabe serious na talaga ito. =) hehe.

You're right, what you raised are good points. I shall have Dave look at the points you raised and find out how we can achieve it. I'm still not certain on how and when Dave will be preparing the manual so I cannot give any answers yet. Probably, we can have an informal meeting, or meetings, to find out how to address these points. When we've come up with ways on how we think these issues can be addressed, then we can send them to Dave, Ben and Ruping, so that it'll be considered in the manual.  The venue for the informal meeting can be one of those areas opposite your office (hehehe). What do you think? (inuman na!!!)

o people, inalis ko muna si rpalonzo and dave from receiving e-mail from this group. hindi ko pala nabangit sa inyo na kasama sila. sorry.

 

anyways, it was nice seeing ken, coy, dulce, joylynn and gina last friday. yung iba na wala, sayang hindi tayo nagkita. and for joylynn and gina, i did enjoy our nightout sa shang. sarap ng talaga ng fish and chips ng fish & co. next time sana present din yung iba. alam ko busy yata kayo lahat doing some work for the philippine development framework, of which a meeting will be

undertaken in cebu next month.

 

by the way, yung mentoring program, have you guys discussed what transpired during the meeting last friday? i realised that not everyone was present during the meeting. si cali lang yata ang present from your group.
