The chant pilgrimage at the National Shrine concluded with a Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary, extraordinary form, with Gregorian ordinary and propers, including organ by David Lang and the Shrine choir directed by Peter Latona singing Palestrina and Byrd. We had made 250 programs; we had no expectation of large attendance. I don't have precise numbers but there might have been 450-500 people. Certainly no one had expected this.
