A lot of people have been asking how we have been doing , For those who do not know we lost our house and home on November 23rd to an abnormal Storm that broke our breakwater/foundation. since then we have been denied any pay out from Allstate under our home owners insurance.
The below is from an email last week: since then we have received the letter stating they were going to deny our coverage because they claim water was the fault (even thought our house sits on the water and the insurance agency had been to our house)

Kathy and I are now in a house sitting gig which gives us a little stability for the first time since Thanksgiving week. Our house is a total write off and Allstate insurance has declined our claim. We received a phone call stating that they were not going to cover anything but they could not tell us the reason. The reason will be coming by mail but we have not received it yet. We are currently seeking legal counsel but have not been able to retained a lawyer yet. If a lawsuit or mitigation does not resolve itself relatively quickly Kathy and I will be facing bankruptcy and foreclosure.
We are healthy and have a place to be for the time being so life could be worse.

Kathy and I never imagined being in the position and frankly its not fair but its the cards we have been dealt. Like I said earlier in this email, we are healthy and together and that is what really counts.

This Friday marks the second anniversary of our House disaster. To make a long story short, because we were the only primary damage in that storm there was no ability for the City of Burien to ask for Federal help. We were also denied any and all coverage from our insure Allstate. Kathy and I were also unable to raise the funds that would have been needed to stabilize and save the house in time. The house is currently condemned and we are being assessed a fine of $250 a day until we can tear it down. We do not have that kind of money either.
Kathy and I did take Allstate all the way to Federal Court and won (yaaa) but we could only collect the extent of our policy. That is not enough to pay our lawyers, pay our mortgage and demo the house. The lawsuit cost us everything we had and has created a pot of money to be able to take the house down but Citimortgage is also listed as a payee on the check and so far has refused to even meet with us.
So there it is , We won the battle and are so far losing the war. We had very much hoped that after two years we could have been in a position to restart our lives, but alas we are not. At least not yet…
