ATTENTION FAMILIES, FRIENDS, GUESTS—

IT’S YOUR CHANCE TO DANCE!!!

This is your invitation to put on your dancing shoes and join the big dance party! We will end this year’s spring concert with an all-choir performance of “FOOTLOOSE,” the title song from one of the greatest dance flicks of all time. If you live with a chorister, you may have seen them practicing their dance steps. We are expanding the dance field to include spectators who would like to do more than just tap their toes in their seats (it will be hard to stay in your seat for this one anyway!).  So, let’s take a trip down memory lane to 1984 when “FOOTLOOSE” hit the dance scene and join our choristers in the fun!

We have invited the BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SWVA (bgcswva.org), a community youth organization, to be our guests for this concert. This organization provides wonderful life enhancing programs and character development experiences for young people in the community. We will use our dance party as a means to raise much needed funds for their local program.

Here are some ways our collective contributions will be used to support the BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SWVA:

$400 covers transportation and personnel costs for the Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA to attend the RVCC Spring Concert

$20 buys snacks for a classroom for one week

$65 covers the cost for one youth to attend SUMMER CAMP for one week (This is a CRITICAL need. Each year the Roanoke location typically has 90-100 children attend SUMMER CAMP—that doesn’t include the other five locations! They are dependent on organizations like ours to help fund this camp).

$1,105 covers a one-year Scholarship to RVCC (includes tuition, costume, T-shirt, Fall Retreat, Williamsburg, required music material)

Now…let’s get back to the dance party. For a contribution of any amount $15 or more per person, YOU can join the dance party—that means mom, dad, grandma, grandad, brother, sister, cousin, friend—THE MORE THE MERRIER!

If you would like to join our dance party, here is what you need to do:

You must REGISTER from our website at childrenschoir.com/footloose-dance-party, so we will know how many spots to designate on the field. You may also make your contribution to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA via this portal.

Once registered, you will receive a YouTube link to the RVCC choreography instruction video for “FOOTLOOSE.” We will be using the same choreography as the A/B/B+ Choirs (we will leave the more advanced steps to the C Choir).

Then PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Each person must learn the choreography on their own and be well prepared for concert day (you know how Ms. D is about practice and preparation!). At a designated time and on signal, you will join the RVCC on the field for our grand finale.

Additional instructions and info on concert logistics will be communicated in coming weeks.

If you do not plan to join the dance party, you may still support the Boys & Girls Clubs of SWVA by making your contribution from the event page at donate-bgca.childrenschoir.com. There will also be an opportunity to contribute at the concert.

Let’s fill the field with dancers! The deadline to register for the dance party is Friday, April 23, 2021--remember you must allow time to learn the choreography which is so easy and so much fun! The sooner you register, the more time you will have to practice. This assumes, of course, that you have already purchased your tickets to the RVCC Spring Concert through the Salem Civic Center. If you have not already done so, you may reserve tickets by calling 540-375-9779

It’s been a challenging year for everyone. Let’s close out the year by helping our neighbors and by joining the RVCC as we make history with our first dance party ever in an outside concert venue during a pandemic year! See you at the concert!
