Has any of you attended the General Astronomy course offered by Birla institute, bangalore ? is it worth attending and how are the faculties & the lectures they give ?

OR, is there any course in Planetarium, IIAP or Vis.Museum  itself (summer camp types) ?

Warm regards,
Rama, Bangalore

Planetarium summer camps are really good. I got interest in Astronomy and science because of those courses.

Regards,
Keerthi.

planetarium holds a course calleod REAP. it is said to be good. regarding MPBIFR, i had planned to join the 6-week course on radio astronomy. I registered, as in an informal registration wherein you give your names and stuff. They said they'll get back and they still havent. Also, if i call-they do not give me a specific date. So- make your call.

@ Keerthi- since you've attended these courses, can you please elaborate as to what these actually are. Do we need any prerequisites before joining them etc. It'll be helpful.
Thanks a ton.

Well...
When I was in school, I used to attend Astronomy, General Science, Science Experiments summer camps. Also, there were some weekend classes for high school students.
Then when I joined BE, I started to attend REAP program but I couldn't complete it.

REAP is for BSc and BE students. I assume Mr. Rama wanted to know about summer camp for school kids.

Regards,
Keerthi.

all,

yes, i have asked for my son who s doing 7th grade.

thanks a lot for the info... will call the planetarium & museum people to chk for the summer camp details.

saw mpbifr's course details recently and it seems that its an exclusive astronomy course.  wanted to know abt that also before registeration.

if there is any other place/institute in blr offers such science summer camps or short term courses on kids level, pls post those details also (science clubs, iiap, ncbs, etc.)  Such programs will definitely be a good start for young kids.

warm regards,
Rama, Bangalore
