Hi Naren,

First off, it will be very difficult to see the meteor showers from the city. You'll have to go
to some dark location.

Secondly, you don't need a telescope to see a meteor shower. Your eyes will do just fine.

You can use this map to check Light Pollution/Darkness levels for nearby locations:

I'm not sure if there are any observation sessions planned around the 23rd of April, because
the end of the season is almost upon us.

Best,
Karthik.

Hi Naren,

Are you sure that Lyrids Meteor Shower is visible in india? If yes, where in India?

Lyrids should be visible in India or anywhere in the northern hemisphere. These are located in the constellation of Lyra (look for the bright Star Vega on google maps/Skeye). However, Lyrid meteor showers are known to be relatively 'mild' as in they don't do as many "streaks per hour" as some of the others

The best time to see them would be sometime after 1 am till about dawn. Ofcourse, you wont be able to see these from Bangalore so please drive to a safe, dark site.

Regards,
Anish
