Asteroid named after Amar Sharma!

Hi folks

I guess some of you already know that David Levy named an asteroid
after amateur astronomer Amar Sharma, who was earlier affiliated with
BAS and is now affiliated with Nikaya Observatory.

I think the description given by Levy is apt, for he has indeed
inspired / nurtured a lot of us into astronomy; including nurturing my
interest by facilitating my observing, and being an observing pal for
many years.

There are some news reporting failures, as usual -- Amar did not
discover Mira, obviously! (Mira is a bright star in Cetus). What Amar
discovered is a Mira-type variable star in one of his photographic
plates.

It was nice to see Amar getting honored on April 30th in JNP by Dr. U. R. Rao and Dr. Shylaja. His interviews came in The Hindu and in Mirror and a phone interview in Kasturi channel.

Same news was telecasted in Kasturi News 24 channel yesterday.

But most of the news were mis-informed!
