Dear all,
I have designed a jigsaw puzzle based on the Hindu panchang of the day.
https://pd2.github.io/panchang-puzzle/ The play area consists of 51 cells listing 12 maasa (solar month), 27 nakshatra (asterism), 12 raashi (sun sign). Based on the panchang (Hindu calendar) I'll mark out 3 cells pertaining to current time raashi, nakshatra and maasa. Your task is to put the pieces of the jigsaw into the play area such that the entire grid area is covered except the 3 marked out cells.
I used Algorithm X (by Donald Knuth) aka Dancing algorithm, to solve my Panchang puzzle. For the 12 x 27 x 12 = 3888 unique puzzles in this, there are 8653012 i.e. 8.6 million solutions with an average of 2225 solutions and a minimum of 172 to a maximum of 11000 solutions.
Importantly all 3888 unique puzzles here have a solution.
Please let me know if you find this interesting enough to work on it as I am looking for collaborators.
Best,
Pradeep
