I remember reading a while ago that the Physics Department of the University

of Mysore (in the Manasagangotri campus) has an 11" SCT with public access

on Friday evenings.

I was able to unearth this news item, but that's all I could find:

Apart from this, I have no other information; perhaps other people on the list

might know more.

There isnt any formal astronomy club in Mysore as far as i know. But there is a group of students who have been conducting outreach and observational programs in many rural schools around Mysore. Though i dont physically go to do a session i am in close contact with them and discuss a lot of programs.

I am part of Pratham (www.pratham.org) a NGO active in children's education and we have been conducting skywatching sessions for more than 3 years now in and around Mysore. I would like to start a local club soon. We have a few Alt-azimuth 76mm and a couple of 114mm EQ1 mount telescopes with us and can use them to kickstart the club at least initially.
If anyone else wants to join or has new ideas, please ping me.
