Subject: My asteroid discovery
To: balachandra rao <balacha...@gmail.com>

Dear Sir,

This is just to share :
I have been hunting asteroids in NEAT images archives for past few
months. I am glad to tell that Minor Planet Center (MPC) has
designated my newly found asteroid as 2002 VJ148.

As per recent MPC policies discoverers are not personally informed
about the discoveries, however my observations are available at MPC's
Feb.15 circular 2012 Feb.C53

Further, asteroid 2002 VJ148 turned out to be a main-belt asteroid.
Its orbit is inclined at an angle of ~10 degrees to the ecliptic.
Its orbital elements are at:

http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi
(Just put "2002 VJ148" in the search box and enter)

You can also see its orbit simulation there.

One external link lists asteroid discoverers using NEAT (Observatory 644 data):
http://www.skaw.sk/enneattotalpage.htm
(It may be noted that this list is NOT exhaustive as mentioned by the
author, nor it is covering entire ambit of asteroid hunting)

Regards,
-Shishir Deshmukh
