Upcoming AZ Brevet proposed event calendar

Hello randos!

As promised, here is a first cut at some proposed events and dates for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025. If the dates are in conflict for you, or if you have additional ideas/events you'd prefer to ride, please let me know. Also, please let me know which routes you can help me out on ride day.

I've received feedback from a number of people and I've tried to accommodate the requests. I've also tried to vary the locations so that we all get to experience riding in different areas. AZ is large, and varied in its climate and terrain.

Some comments:

1. The first event is already ON the schedule and registration is open. I will be adding the other 2024 events ASAP. I'll submit the 2025 calendar in a couple weeks.
   
2. I'm planning to ride the Kitchen Creek 200k in Pine Valley, CA. This is a San Diego Randos ride. It's a fantastic route which climbs, the closed to cars, Kitchen Creek Rd to Mt. Laguna. Want to join me?
3. Saguaro and Sabino, Oh My! is a new route. In order to access Sabino Canyon, bicycles are allowed on Sun, Mo, Tu, Th, F, before 9am, not allowed W, Sat. I have a 200k version of that route also. It's named Saguaro, Sabino and Lemmon, Oh My! This one additionally climbs Mt Lemmon. Anyone interested in riding that one? It would be on the same day and allow you to bag Kitt and Lemmon in one weekend. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45376028
4. I'm thinking about reversing the North Valley routes. Thoughts?
5. Madera Canyon 300k will now also climb to the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory near Amado.
6. Desert Loop is a new route which circumvents the Valley. This is still a work in progress, but the link is a beta version for reference.
7. We haven't ridden the Sedona brevets in a long time. The area is beautiful and if you've never ridden there, I recommend you give it a go. Of course, the 200k climbs Mingus Mtn in both directions, so be prepared for some awesome descending!!
8. Standin' on the Corner, of course, visits Winslow. Get your photo taken on that famous corner with the flatbed Ford and share with your friends and family. Jealousy will abound!
9. The White Mountains 8k600 may be more of a challenge than most riders want, so I've split that exact route into 3 200k days so that riders have more time and less suffering to enjoy this spectacular part of our state. It will be offered on the same weekend at the 8k600 route.

The web is now updated, and registration is open for the remaining 2024 events. I'm still working on a few tweaks for the 2025 schedule, so if you have suggestions please get them to me soon. I also now have 100k, 200k, 300k and 400k versions of the Desert Loop. I will be hosting all of those on Mar 1, 2025. I'm in the process of getting all of the documentation put together to submit to RUSA for approval. Stay tuned.
