to AZR Teams
Hello Desert Darters!

This is my first update for riders already registered, and for those who have expressed interest in joining a team. Since not everyone has joined the Google group (groups.google.com/g/azr-teams), some of you may receive this email twice. Sorry for the cross post. Please read this this information as it is time sensitive and important for you to know if you plan to ride the Dart.

I want to let everyone know the process for creating, filling and registering as a team, as well as what is required for your routes.
  1. I will not be assigning teams. It is the riders' responsibilities to form their own teams and decide on a route to ride.
    1. I have created a Google group that is for this exact purpose. See above link to join. I recommend that you join and reach out to others so that you can get your teams together.
    2. Once you're a member of that group, you can send an email to the group and everyone else in the group will be able to see it and respond to it. You don't need to be a member of that group in order to form your own team.
  2. Note that registration closes for the Desert Dart on Feb 5th, one week prior to the event. That's only 2 weeks from now!
    1. After that date, no new registrations will be accepted, including riders who are named on teams but have not yet registered.
    2. Team Captains are responsible for ensuring that everyone listed on their team has registered for the event.
  3. Team Captains are responsible for getting me their final route before Feb 5th. I need time to look them over and approve them.
    1. The final route delivered to me must meet normal RUSA guidelines for route creation. If you're not familiar with the requirements, I recommend that you not wait to the last minute to get the route finalized. Here are the guidelines for you to follow: rusa.org/pages/rulesPermContributors
  4. I have offered some suggested routes for riders not familiar with the area, or who do not want to create their own.
    1. These routes are not necessarily complete! If you choose to ride any of them, it is your responsibility to get them modified to meet the requirements noted above. I will not be doing that for you. Your route must be approved by me if you want to ride the event.
  5. There are currently 33 registered riders for the Dart. There are 26 riders currently on named teams. There are additional riders on the Interested rider list who have expressed interest in joining a team. Time is running out to get your teams together! It's time to get organized.
As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Happy Darting!
-Mike
