I'm having difficulty understanding what is going on here with this correction made to the baptism record.

Bottom right of page 61, I see the (( and then I see the )) to end the correction about halfway down page 61v.  It looks like the correction is for No. 139 but I'm not seeing what is being corrected, nor do I see a notation in record 139 pointing to the correction.  It appears that the reason is noted but I can't make out the handwriting to use Google translate to help here.

Just wondering if anyone can make out what is being corrected, and why.

Thanks!

I don't see any corrections, just margin annotations.

The first one says she married on 11-7-1921.  I believe her spouse was Manuel Cordeiro de Andrade.

The second note says that marriage was dissolved by the death of her spouse on 10-2-1949.  The note is dated 22 Oct 1975 but also makes reference to a marriage record #283 from 1929 (year doesn't mesh with the marriage year in the first annotation ([921] so I'm not sure what this is)

The third says Maria died in freguesia of Affifes of this council on dia de hoje (my best guess as I do not see a number).  The note is dated 22 Oct 1975 so if it says "hoje" then that is the date of death.  Either way it is record #728.

The margin notes you refer to are all for baptism number 140. There are three separate notes. I am having difficulty with the writing but it looks like the first one is Maria married a Manuel ? Andrade on Nov 7, 1921. The second one looks the marriage was annulled by the death of her husband on Oct 2, 1949. the third one on the next page is she died I am having difficulty with the day and month the year looks like 1975.

Hopefully some one else can help fill it out.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post.

Beginning on page 60v we see baptism #139 for Manuel.  Page 61 has baptism #140 for Maria.  Go all the way to the lower right corner of page 61 you will see (( which I believe is the beginning of a correction or other annotation for baptism 139 which continues on the next page (61v).  About two lines up from the halfway point of page 61v you see "digo ))" which I believe to be the ending of the correction/annotation for #139 and the resumption of #140.  Just wondering what is being corrected/annotated here.

Here are two images of what I'm referencing.

OK, I got it.  You didn't confuse the annotations for corrections, sorry I misunderstood.  If you look at the part inside parentheses before "digo", it exactly matches record 139 on page 61 upper right.  It was all a repeat transcription of record 139 and all 14 lines should be disregarded.  Record 140 stops with "Jose de Almeida" on page 60 and then continues with "...)) foi padrinho" on page 61v.

I hope this clears it up.
