Manoel Cabral + Catarina Correia (S. Jorge, Nordeste), S. Miguel, circa 1700

Hi all, 

By now, I’ve probably used all my lifelines on this group, but I’ve just found ancestors (Cabral) from Nordeste, and I’d really appreciate your help. Although I was born and raised in Ponta Delgada, Nordeste was always my favorite area of S. Miguel, yet I had no idea I had ancestors from Nordeste. I am not giving up on this line. 

I cannot find the marriage record of Manoel Cabral and Catarina Correia or their son’s (Caetano) baptism record, but I know that Caetano Cabral married Victoria Silva on May 17, 1745:

Between 1746 and 1765, Caetano Cabral and Victoria Silva had 5 daughters including my 5th great-grandmother  Victoria Maria Cabral, on March 25, 1754:

Her sisters were:

Maria Cabral (__May, 1746)

Josefa Cabral (April 5, 1756 )

Antonia Cabral (February 2, 1761)

Barbara Cabral (May 22, 1765)

 

Ok, Manoel Cabral and Catarina Correia might have gotten married in another parish. In fact, Rodrigo Rodrigues mentions a marriage between a Manoel da Costa Pimentel/ da Costa Cabral and a Catarina Correia around that time (January 16, 1708), in Nordestinho. However, the marriage record of Caetano Cabral and Victoria Silva clearly states that Caetano Cabral and his parents, Manoel Cabral and Catarina Correia, are all from S. Jorge, Nordeste (“fregueses e moradores”) and even indicates where they live in Nordeste. This record contradicts Rodrigo Rodrigues, who wrote by mistake that Caetano Cabral was from Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande, and Victoria Silva was from Nordeste. I am sure it’s the other way around.

Victoria Silva was the daughter of João da Silva Calvo and Joana Rebelo and was born on February 8, 1726, in Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande:

I’ve found a baptism record for a Caetano, son of Manuel Cabral and a Maria Correia, not Catarina Correia though, on August 8, 1711, but I think that this is a long shot. 

So, basically, I am lost. 

I do not have access to Ernesto do Canto’s notes or marriage indices either. I have no other ways of finding more information.

Please let me know if any of your ancestral lines overlaps with this line. I am not ready to give up just yet.
