Hi Natasha, I made it to the Angra Archive today. It turns out your 3GGF did not die in Brazil, but in Lisbon, Portugal on 1 Nov 1896. Attached is a picture I took of the obit information from his inventory. It says an official from Sao Jose Hospital is Lisbon certifies the following from record number 1773, in registry book number 121 (sorry but I do not know how to find this book in Lisbon):
On 1 Nov 1896 at 2AM at the "entrada de cama de observações" at the Sao Jose Hospital dead was Manuel Ferreira Drumonde Coelho, 39 years old, married with Lucinda Augusta Simões, of unknown profession; natural of Angra do Heroismo and resident of Rua do ?Tanqueiro?, #12, second floor in the parish of Santa Maria Magdalena; son of Manuel Drumonde and Rosa Mariana Coelho Drumonde.
In another part of the book it listed his living children as Florencio, age 8 and Bibiana, age 6 (see attachment "...filhos"
Also attached are a photo of the cover pages that shows his widow is performing the inventory in Angra and a picture of the whole book to show how massive it is. Most that I've seen were a few dozen pages. This one is the size of a dictionary, most of which was beyond my capabilities. Perhaps he owned a lot or comes from a long line of heirs. Ferreira Drumonde is an important name in Sao Sebastiao.
I do not know how long they had been in Lisbon or if they were intending to live there or just passing through to the Azores. Either way, the obit says they resided in Santa Maria Magdalena (Lisbon) and we know his wife returned to Terceira after his death.
