Hi all!
This work was published last Monday on Terceira
Island and on Wednesday on São Miguel Island. It is
composed of 9 volumes, with many family names. It is
an important work, that will last for a long time.
There are connections to the settlers (some with
sources, others with assumptions). There are families
from other islands, from the mainland and foreign
countries. Please keep in mind that not all
individuals/families from Terceira are present in this
work. I have a copy and it will take me some time to
go through the information on my family...
One call of attention: There was a problem with the
printing of Vol. 4: in some books there are some pages
missinge, between 320 and 350. If you own a copy,
please double check it.

Joao, I now notice there is no Victor surname listed so I guess there is no
reason for me to add them to my Library? Since the earliest we have found
this family in the Azores in 1870, maybe this is the reason?

How are you? I was reading something about some new books that are out. Can
you clue me in as to what these books are all about and for what Island. I
get the impression they are similar to the books by Mr.Gomes for the Isla
das Flores. Anyway, what island are they covering and what are they?

I am not really familiar with the books. I think Joao's previous post
explains them. Since the site I noted lists the family names and I did not
see my Victor surname, I can only conclude that they probably would not be
useful to me.......at this time.........who knows what the future brings.

The books are not exhaustive as to what families
concern. For example, only one of my four grandparents
is listed there. Most of my family is not there. Even
for the families listed, not all children are
mentioned. It is important to make connections to the
settlers, but in some cases, not source is mentioned
for the information provided...

Thanks for the information. Hope all is well with you. Haven't heard from
you for a while now. Can you tell me the current cost for a Baptismo from
the Arquivo at Ponta Delgado. I finally found my Ggrandfather's place of
birth, Capellas, São Miguel. I want to order the documents. If you know the
cost, could you let me know.

The cost of documents differ from one archive to the
other. I would recommend you to contact the archives
in Ponta Delgada and ask for the information. Do you
need their email?

to write it in Portuguese. IN that case, I'm screwed as I don't write in
Portuguese. Could you possibly send me the email address so I have it but in
the meantime, could you possibly check for me as to the cost. I really
appreciate it. Also,the last time I ordered records, I figured the
conversion in the cost from Euro's to USD. Then I would add 2 dollars to
cover the possibility of increase in cost. I would send a letter Ihave
written in Portugese and send them a check from my account. There was never
a problem getting the documents. Do you think that this is still alright?

I had a meeting with him and he said that he was

complexo, dada a sua imensidão.
Unfortunatelly there is no index of individuals,
which make it hard to find a specific person.
