I have the basics of this marriage record for Antonio Jose Sequira and Barbara Florinda 6 Nov 1837.  I can see the groom's parent's names of Manuel Vieira and Rosa Maria Sequira "ja de funta" about the middle of the record but I don't know what the next words are before the date of 8 May 1834.  Is that possibly when Rosa died?  I had that she died about 1833??

Also, Barbara Florinda and her parents Jose Ignacio da Silveira and Maria Barbara are all native of Norte Grande, correct?  After that there is another date of 6 Oct 1837; what does that date relate to?  Maybe an announcement in the church of the planned marriage?

And while I'm asking questions, does the margin state that Antonio is 33 years old and Barbara is 30 years old?  That's what it looks like to me.

Thanks for any help clarifying what this record means.

Yes, Antonio is 33 and Barbara is 30 (per the margin).

I'm not sure if that's a "de funta" or a "de funtos" after Rosa Maria Sequeira's name. I think I see and "s". Then it says "native of this Matriz and he was born in the 8 day of the month of May of 1000 800 and 40 and was baptized on the 13 day of the same? month and year...."

Bride's mom, Maria Barbara is deceased. It only says "natural" referring to the bride. It doesn't state "all were from." The bride's birth was 6 Oct 1000 800 and 7??? That's kind of far apart in age for that time period. She was baptized on the 11th day of the same.

Hope this helps!

This record gives valuable birth and baptism information I am not used to seeing in a marriage record.

Married 6 Nov 1837, Matriz (de São Jorge) da Vila das Velas.
Groom is Antonio José de Sequeira, son of Manuel Vieira and Rosa Maria Sequeira, both deceased; native of this matriz born on 8 May 1804 and baptized on 13 of the same month.
Bride is Barbara Florinda, daughter of José Inácio da Silveira and Maria Barbara, she is deceased; native of NS das Neves, lugar de Norte Grande born on 6 Oct 1807 and baptized on 12? of the same month.

I believe the groom's parents are both deceased because the end of "defuntos" trails down like an "s" while for the bride's mother the end of the word trails right like an "a" (defuntos vs. defunta)

I hope this helps.
