My name is Ismelda de Valladares and I am descended from Manuel Ygnacio Mello Pimentel Bettencourt, he was born in Azores Portugal.His Parents were Joao Francisco Pimentel Arjos and Joaquina Rosa Bettencourt and the Grandparents were Manuel de Pimentel y Catarina Arjos y Hordas 

I read the note Genivaldo Gueiros send to you about the book "A history of the Azores Islands" , I will like to know if the book mention the Pimentel  and Arjos Horda family. My family tree is in Ancestry I was interesting to see if the they were in the book

Hi Ismelda,

I'm not Gayle, but I can tell you about James Guill's book. It's a history book. Talks about a lot of history stuff. He did include a few charts of a few families (very prominent families), but there's no idea of names. Actually, the book doesn't have an index at all. The book is over 600 pages. You will have to ask Genivaldo what finding aid he used to pinpoint the page. Then maybe you can ask for that page IF they happen to be in the book.

Unfortunately, there is no index for the book. Another group member wrote about an Internet Archive which might help you. I’ll look for it but don’t get your hopes up. I trashed a bunch of messages last night and it may be one of them.
