My fondest wish was for my mom to live to the age of 100. She died at
age 98 years 7 months. 3 of her sisters died after age 95. So I
think the following story is wonderful. Maybe the woman who is 100
years old is related to someone on the list?

My mom was one of 10 children. Her grandparents Rosa Ventura and Jose Teves
had come to Hawaii from San Micheal in the late 1800's. My mom passed away
at 96. She had one sister who died at 100, another at 99 and another at 93.
One brother died at 98. Longevity seems to be a trait in the family. The
remaining brother and sisters are all in their 80's and 90's. I believe it
is in their genes. Aloha, fro Hawaii

I have TEVES in my ancestry. Do you know the date that your Teves arrived
in Hawaii?
Both of my grandmothers were born in Hawaii. Their parents arrived in
Hawaii in 1883.

My great grandfather Jose Tavares Teves arrived in Hawaii on the British
sailing ship Suffolk on Aug 25, 1881. He was born on June 1, 1854 in Rabo de
Peixe. His parents were Manuel Tavares Teves and Iria de Jesus. He married
Rosa Ventura. We are related to three brothers who migrated to Hawaii in
1883. Their father was Jose Mauricio Tavares Teves and he was the uncle of
Jose. They settled on Oahu and Kauai. So Shirley do we have a connection?

I found In Bob de Mello's book, and on the passenger list from Consulado
Geral de Portugal em Hawaii:

for the SUFFOLK

Jose Tavares de Teves, age 26
Father: Manual Tavares de Teves
Mother: Maria de Jesus
From: R. de Peiexe
This was passenger #531
He was single.
Is this your grgrandfather?

Two of my grgrandparents and their families arrived in Hawaii on the Bell
Rock on 3 Nov 1883.

What are the names of the three brothers that migrated in 1883?

What is the name of the oldest Teve ancestor that you found?

I have several Teve/Teves/Tevis in my database.

Aloha Shirley,

Yes, Jose Tavares Teves is my great-grandfather.  He lived on the island of Hawaii.

The 3 brothers were 1st cousins of my great-grandfather.  They were: Julio Ascanio Tavares Teves, Prudencio Rapozo Tavares Teves, & Jose Jacinto Tavares Teves.  All born in Rabo de Peixe.  The first Teves ancestor that I identified was Gaspar de Teves, born in the early 1600s & by 1650 had settled in Rabo De Peixe.

Aloha,

Charlotte
