Tombo.pt has an automated notification system when something new comes online. Most are from mainland Portugal. Today, it said that the Archives on Sao Miguel (Ponta Delgada) uploaded new images. They are from the Civil Registry. You can see more here:

P.S. They are color scans!!!!

Hi everyone

I was coming here to say this. Thanks for doing it faster than me, Cheri.

The tombo.pt site is not lying, but it's not telling the whole truth either.. It only mimics what the archives say, and the archives do have a color scan for all those 54 civil registry books. Unfortunately (and I do not know the reason for that), the Nordeste marriage books are not the full scan but only the index pages. The birth records for Ponta Delgada and the marriage book for Lagoa are the full book.

Unfortunately, it seems that the tombo.pt web server is also being hit by the "Access denied" issue that some of you encounter, so I need to run the crawler for Açores out of another computer. This to say that all the other archives will be crawled daily in search of civil registry records., but not the Azores one. I'll try to remember to run every couple of months..

Best regards,

João C. Ventura
