Can you all let me know the largest Azorean family you have in your database? I prefer the late 1800s onwards, and it must be from ONE wife. All kids, whether or not they lived to adulthood.

Example: 14 kids from ONE wife, includes one set of twins. Kids born from 1890-1913.

Thanks, Cheri

For one marriage it is my GGG grandmother that had had 14 children from 1820 to 1846 with no twins.

If "one wife" means one woman, it would be my wife's great grandmother who had 18 kids.  Nine from 1891 to 1904 with her first husband.  Then another 9 with her second husband from 1906 to 1918. No twins.  I do not have all of these in my program so I guess I can't count them.

Some disagreement, even among descendants about exactly how many - for instance, one or two stillborn.  The descendants claim as many as 24.  My research finds 19 for sure.  These children are my half 1st cousins, once removed.  That side of the family and my side never got along - too bad there were so many of them.

David, I need to know how many are documented, that your ancestress bore. Family stories can take on a life of their own. So that is why I asked for people to check their genealogy programs. Thanks, Cheri

Must have been a typo then, because you mentioned the grandfather. Thanks for the clarification.

Cheri,
My gr-grandmother from Faial gave birth to 9 living children and 2 that only lived a few hours after birth (not even long enough to name them).  The great grandparents married in Faial in 1873 but moved right afterwards to the Bay Area area.  All of their children were born on a farm near Mission San Jose. (1874-1898)
