Can someone help me read this marriage certificate?

Date March 1783?

Groom Antonio de Pimentel
Bride:  I have no idea what her name is?  It is not one I have seen before?  last name de Medeiros

Paternal: Jose de A??? and Jacinta da Rosa?  I can even tell.

Maternal:  Antonio de Medeiros deceased and Jacinta de F????

Any information from this would be appreicated!  I have improved in reading, but then I come across harder ones and there are many names on her that I think are referencing the priests.

Thanks so much!
Rene

Hi Rene,

I see:

groom = Antonio de Pimintel

groom's father = Jose de Arruda
groom's mother = it looks to me like the priest made an insertion to the text in the margin (see the "+" signs); ????? "da Encarnacao, ja defuntos"

bride = Echolastica de Medeiros

bride's father = Antonio de Medeiros, ja defunto
bride's mother = Jacinta Oliveira

yikes, that was hard going!  I skimmed the baptismal locations because I'm not familiar with the Island, but there may be more info to be gleaned from them.

hope that helps,

:)

I was going to say the same thing. Escolastica is brides name, I. Have a great great grandmother with that name and the same info that Rene gave you was what I was going to give you. Glad we could help you. Have a great day.

Hi Rene

I see the same as Linda and Pat have stated and just want to add that the groom was baptized in Achadinha and his mother's name (in the margin as Linda stated) is Barbara da Encarnação.  The bride appears to be natural of Matriz de São George (Jorge) which I believe is Nordeste.

Thank you all so much!  I would have never gotten her name.  I looked for hints with other E's but could never come up with it.  It is just not one I have ever seen!  It is a mouthful!  I really appreciate it!
