Good afternoon, Im currently working on building a family tree for my dads side but have hit a road block when it comes to family names specifically my great grandparents. I know my paternal grandfather Luciano Raposo was born in faial june 8th 1945. His parents are Jose Raposo who married a Maria de Jesus. My paternal grandmother whos name is Celestina Medeiros Raposo her parents are named Manuel Medeiros and her mother Ingracia do couto Cordeiro.

From what Ive been told both my paternal great grandfather Jose and his wife died on the island of Terceira.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Alexis,

Luciano Raposo was born in Faial - the island? Or a place with the name of Faial in it? For a 1945 birth, you have to write to the Civil Registry, but it must be the Civil Registry for a specific place (a freguesia - like a village).

Again, for Terceira, you need to know the freguesia and date (or close approximate) when they died. Then we can point you in the right direction.

According to this Find-a-grave entry, he was born in Horta so on the island of Faial on 8 Jun 1945 and died in Angra on Terceira 1 Apr 2021.  I looked for other entries under Raposo in Angra Find-a-grave but did not see a José.
