forgot to mention that his daughter's birth and marriage list him as being from villa franca

i figure he was born about 1799

i searched over 400 pages yesterday in villa franca matriz and couldn't find his baptism

wondering if his marriage gave any info as to where he was from

Carmen, the groom on the left hand side is
Jacinto Soares de Oliveira and he along with his bride are naturals of Vila Franca.

One thing to note is that both of his parents are deceased which might indicate he may be older than you're allowing for in your search range.

i went through all the baptisms from 1795-1801

i found jacinta's baptism - she was born in 1804

i'll check 1801 to 1805

i was searching only the parents names of antonio da costa and umbelina francisca

should i look for names with oliviera too?

Yes the record says Jacinto was born in Faial da Terra abt 1800, based on his age at marriage.
