Hello, everyone, thank you for joining this mailing list.
Writing Career Updates
As promised, I will be using this list to provide you with details of
my writing career.
First, let me direct your attention to my extensive work at
About.com Physics, including
regular blog posts and articles on current physics topics such as the
recent discovery of a
superinsulator.
I have also begun my own blog,
The
Philosopher's Stone Blog, which focuses largely on book reviews and
commentary on current events. My recent reviews include Jonah
Goldberg's
Liberal
Fascism and Howard Gardner's
Five
Minds for the Future. Right now I'm reading two books which
should prove quite intriguing to review, so keep an eye open for those!
As far as other writing, I have just received very positive feedback on
my essay "The Physics of Heroes: Flying Men, Immortal Samurai, and
Destroying the Space-Time Continuum" for
Heroes and Philosophy,
due out in time to coincide with the start of the third season of NBC's
Heroes. I have a month to complete this essay and will be
focusing on that in a week, when my Linear Algebra course is completed
(see below for more on that).
If this sounds good, also look into my last publication, "Exploring the
Dark Side of the Rainbow" in
Pink Floyd and Philosophy: Careful
with that Axiom, Eugene! (read on to find out how to win a free
copy), which discusses the synchronicity between
The Wizard of Oz
and Pink Floyd's
Dark Side of the Moon album. If you have
never heard of this synchronicity, it's well worth checking out.
Other Life Events
For those who haven't heard, I am engaged to my lovely Amber Eckert.
At present, the details of the wedding are still up in the air as we
debate the merits of eloping or having a ceremony or what have you.
We're both extremely excited and would like to thank everyone for their
kind wishes.
I am in the last week of my Linear Algebra course. This summer I will
be taking two 6-week courses - Abstract Algebra & Projective
Geometry - which will complete my M.S. in Mathematics Education!
Free Books
As a means of thanking you for subscribing to my list, I would like to
offer you a free e-book or audiobook of Jack London's classic
Call
of the Wild. You can download these directly by becoming a free
Preferred Customer of
my
new bookstore, where you can purchase books for up to 42% off the
retail price, a rate which is better than even Amazon.com in many cases!
However, if you choose not to buy any books, I will still provide you
with the ebook and/or audiobook, if you would like them! All I ask is
that you look at the bookstore and tell me why you are choosing not to
buy anything at this time. I will then send you a CD containing both
the e-book (on PDF format) and audiobook (or just one format, if you
prefer) of
Call of the Wild! Please be sure to provide your
snail mail address in the e-mail.
But that's not all! Everyone who receives
Call of the Wild,
through either method, will be entered for a random drawing on April 30
to win a free copy of
Pink Floyd and Philosophy: Careful with that
Axiom, Eugene! sent directly from me! If you buy through the
website and get the e-book or audiobook, just drop me an e-mail so that
I'll be able to record you in the running.
Thank you all for your time and keep reading!
