Hi Gang,

I'm looking forward to doing the culture dinners again. I did a little
research and found a few restaurants that looked interesting. I
haven't tried them yet so I don't know if those restaurants are
good.... I picked cultures we haven't tried in orevious culture
dinners except for the Indian restaurant.

I agree with Toni re: picking a day of the month. I like the idea of
doing the 3rd Friday of every month for example.

Swift's Restaurant Bar & Lounge
Cuisine: Cajun/Creole
2566 W. Guadalupe Road
Mesa
Swift's brings Caribbean, Creole and Soul food cuisine to Mesa diners
with appetizers, soups and stews, dinner entrees and a variety of
desserts. Start with items such as brioche-style bread spread with
sauteed crawfish, Creole spices, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses
served with Creole butter, or oyster fritters served with Caribbean-
style slaw. Muffalettas and Po Boys are offered, along with dinners
such as Caribbean beef oxtails, Southern-fried chicken or catfish,
pulled pork and smoked ribs. Choose from sides such as mixed greens,
black eyed peas, cornbread dressing and macaroni and cheese. End the
meal with desserts ranging from sweet potato cheesecake to macadamia
nut spring rolls with rum ice cream.

Cyclo
1919 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler
Cuisine: Vietnamese
Price: Under $20
One of the best ethnic restaurants in town, period, and budget-priced,
too. Specialties come from North and South Vietnam: pho ap cho, crispy
rice noodle cake with beef and seafood; sa lach bo, a knockout spicy
beef salad; and ban xeo, a crispy crepe studded with shrimp and pork.

Eliana's
1627 N. 24th St., Phoenix
Cuisine: Salvadoran
Price: Under $20
You can make a meal out of the appetizers: pupusas (corn patties
stuffed with pork and cheese); pasteles (meat turnovers); and tamales.
Main dishes include fried chicken with rice and beans, as well as
fried fish.

Tandoori Times Indian Bistro
CUISINE: Indian
6810 E. Fifth Ave.
Scottsdale, 85251
A vibrant, spice-rich Indian-food restaurant. Entrees are complemented
by a la carte chutneys, flavored rice, fluffy naan and tart raita. In
addition to expected dishes such as chicken masala, yogurt chicken,
lamb, curries and beef kebabs, the bistro serves tandoori wraps.

Let me know what you think.

Hey ya'll - I didn't forget about this and I hope you didn't either. I
sent an invitation out tonight to a bunch of people I thought would
enjoy the dinners.

Livie - I'll get your restaurants added to the calendar and have that
all set up by the end of the weekend. If you know which weekends you
can or can't attend, let me know and I'll be sure to put your
restaurants on the months that you can attend. Better yet, just send
me which restaurants you want on which month and we'll go from there.

If you all have other friends you'd like to invite, you are welcome
and have the access to send them an invitation from the members area.

Okay, last thing... So normally I wouldn't suggest changing the date
from the third Friday to any other day but I'm having dinner with my
Team Diabetes people next Friday on the 16th and was wondering if you
all would mind if we changed January's dinner night to the 22nd
instead. Be honest with me. Let me know if that's okay or if we should
be consistent from the get go. I'll understand either way!
