Dear all:
I have a Dutch friend who is urgently seeking advice on how best to go from here to Zambia by bus.
Anyone currently online with solid information I can share ASAP?
The more the detailed the better if anyone has experience.
Big thanks,

Tasila Banda, PhD.

At the moment one needs to go upto Dar es salaam, by Spider Bus fro Accra Road, and spend a night there -  Dar, and leave early in the morning before 6am to Tunduma by bus again, arrive there at midnight, wait till morning to cross the boarder, then take a bus on the Zambian side to Lusaka. Long way.

NOTE Carefully. Dar es Salaam has many thieves who still money from travelers through "helping" to purchase tickets for them. So watch out. Buy a ticket for yourself from a designated selling office.

Wow!  Thank you very very much Dr. Tasila  Banda  and  Mr.  Francis  Chishimba.

I am sure that information has not only help Dr. Banda  and  the Dutch friend but also some of us who had no idea as to where one

or how one would find their way by road using public transport back to home.

Let us keep up the spirit - Zambians.

Dear All,

The other alternative is to use Either Dar express or Sai baba. Both have their booking offices along river road near KCB....a few metres from Kodja bus stage.

I would advise her to use Sai baba because It has buses the proceed from Ubungo (main bus station in Dar) to Tunduma. That means she can buy a direct ticket from Nairobi to Tunduma.

Hope that helps too.
Regards

Actually it's a direct bus from Nairobi to Lusaka. I didn't know either but few weeks ago i was sending a parcel to Lusaka Zambia and i was told the bus leaves Nairobi everyday at 21hrs or sometimes at midnight and spend some few hours at boarder since in Tanzania buses are allowed to travel at night.
So they start off at 05 hrs from Namanga to Dar and spend a night then start off in the morning to Nakonde.

Actually it takes 3 days. ..but i can only imagine that it's very tiresome. ...3 days on the bus. Anyway you can also send parcels with spider bus but with fee of ksh10.000 .

If he has time, he can do the trip in stages. Two years ago, I took Riverside shuttle from Nairobi to Arusha, Kilimanjaro Express from Arusha to Dar, Sumri from Dar to Tunduma then you cross the border by foot and take Juldan bus from Nakonde to Lusaka. I am Dutch too. If he has questions, he can just call me: 0705889575.

Kind regards,
Marnix
