SURPRISE, Ariz. — A 19-year-old woman captured video of the moment U.S.
Air Force Sergeant Charles Bass pointed a gun at her and asked if she
"wants to die" during a road rage incident in Surprise, court documents
claim.

According to court documents, the woman cut Bass off in traffic around
8:45 a.m. near Litchfield and Cactus roads on Dec. 5 in Surprise.

When the two stopped at a nearby red light, Bass was filmed pointing a
black handgun at the woman, lowering it, then raising it again and asking
if she wants to die. He was seen with his finger on the trigger the second
time he pointed the gun at her, documents claim.

Bass was identified by the woman's father after he saw Bass in his truck
in the area the following day. Bass was arrested on Dec. 15.

Bass allegedly told police that the woman had been "driving erratically"
and that he pointed his gun at her because of his "PTSD and hyper
vigilance issues" when she pulled up beside him with her window down. By
the time he saw it was a young woman it was "too late," according to the
report.

When asked why he pointed the gun at the driver twice if he saw she was a
young woman, he allegedly said he didn't know why. Bass reportedly
declined to answer any further questions about any words exchanged during
the altercation.
