People have forgotten Ayurveda in this Dada Vaidhyas land – says Dr.Korde Dr Korde at We Love Ayurveda

Speaking at a special seminar “We Love Ayurveda” at The International Centre Goa, Dr Nilesh Korde strongly regretted that the Goan people has forgotten Ayurveda despite of having a great physician like Dada Vaidhya, who was born in this land of Goa and had devoted and spent his whole life propounding Ayurveda in this state. Dada Vaidya was from a family of Ayurveda physicians, and in true family traditions never accepted any fees for any health care or medications provided by him. For him the art of healing, making people healthy and Ayurveda was a vocation and a sacred duty. Dr Korde was speaking on the topic of “Ayurveda for Global Promotion of Health”

This seminar witnessed some of the famous personalities belonging to Ayurveda from Goa as well as outskirts of Goa like Mumbai, Sawantwadi ect. The seminar was held at the The International Centre, Taleigao and was organized by The International Centre, The Taleigao Chess Association in association with Bharat Swabhiman and Bhartiya Sanskrit Prabodhini Gomantak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya & Research Centre, Shiroda-Goa.

The chief dignitaries on the dias for today’s function were Dr. Anil Panse,
Dr. Nilesh Korde both Faculty of Gomantak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Shiroda,Goa, Dr. Vivek Shanbhag, Dr. Aashish Phadke - Mumbai, Shri Rajendra Amonkar, Bsc,  D.Pharm, Pioneer Distributors,  Panaji, Mr. Debershis Bhattacharya, General Manage of the International Centre Goa, Advocate Satish and Shri Vinayak Khedekar. Mr Shrikant Barve organized and converned the whole event.

The programme began at 9.30 in the morning with the lighting of the lamp followed by Dhanvantari Stavan by Dr.Aditya and his team. Miss Kanekar felicitated the honorary guests and the days speakers with bouquets of flowers. The event experienced a huge crowd of Ayurvedic Physician and general public, rather Ayurveda Lovers.

The day’s session began with a talk of Dr. Vivek Shanbag who introduced to the crowd the general aspect and knowledge of Ayurveda. “Ayurveda is knowledge of life and not a medical field nor just massage for the tourists nor sayings of any Baba or any Government” he added.

Dr Nilesh Korde explained about the preventive aspects of Ayurveda and how to stay healthy or free from disease. He also included facts about how to promote health via proper use and indulge of diet, foods, regimen exercise and other factors like “Taya-upasthamba”. He mentioned that to bring a change in this State of Goa we need to educate the masses as well as include Ayurveda or health education in Schools and collages curriculum.

Dr Ashish Phadke projected a clear picture of the Future of Ayurveda with some valuable information regarding the researches going on in Ayurveda and Ayurvedic drugs in India and the world and the important Organizations and Government committees like C.C.I.M, A.Y.U.S.H, C.C.R.A.S, W.H.O etc who have been working hard in the Research and Spread of this Ancient Science. He also took time and mentioned the various education systems available in this field of Ayurveda right from B.A.M.S, MD, M.S to Post Graduate Diplomas in various aspects in Ayurveda.

Every one in the auditorium experienced an eye opener when Mr. Rajan Amonkar came down heavily on the Massage centers and beauty parlors across the costal belt for unethically using the name of Ayurveda and duping the tourists for a few dollars. He also heavily commented on the malpractices going on in such places and demanded immediate and urgent action against such centre’s and the quack practioneers there.
In the evening session

Dr. Anil Panse, HOD of Kayachikitsa Depertment of Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Shiroda educated the crowd about “Panchakarma” its importance and application for treatment of disease in Ayurveda. He repeatedly emphasized about getting this treatment or procedure done only from qualified practitioners to achieve better results and to avoid any negligence and adverse effects.

Lastly we had Shri Vinayak Khedekar explaining about the current state of Ayurveda and the future prospects of the science followed by vote of thanks by Mr. Shrikant Barve to wind up the todays programme..At the same time he expressed strong hopes for meeting again with a similar approach or over the similar issue on 28th of May. He also expressed his ideas and plans about conducting a joint meeting or a joint session of practitioners and faculties of all the medical systems prevalent in Goa.
