Hari,
The training is being held at the Queensborough Pool, 1138 Miller Avenue, San Jose. It is the first of a two part Regional Referee training. The second is Sunday 8/30 from 9am-1pm. You must attend both sessions in order to become certified as a referee. The training on September 13th is shorter because it requires you to do the first half of the training online, rather than face to face.

If you would like to do one of the two trainings, (tonight AND Sunday, OR September 13), please reply back to this email, and sign up as a volunteer in www.eayso.org before you come tonight. You'll be issued a volunteer AYSO ID in eAYSO that you should bring with you to the course. We will need it to get you signed up - and credited for -the course.

I hope you can join us,
best,
Kristina

FREE SWEATSHIRT PICK UP FOR NEW TEAM REFEREES AND an extra pair of soccer socks. PICK UP TONIGHT AT TRAINING.
Turn YOUR child's games from scrimmages to GAMES. Be that volunteer-Team Referee. Wear your uniform or yellow t shirt on saturday to opening day: saturday and be Announced during the parade. Walk with your team. See info below

Before you can referee in AYSO, we need to train you.  This email is intended to help you choose one of two training opportunities coming up.  The first one is tomorrow, so please respond quickly.

1.      Basic Referee Course, held on Thursday, 27 August (6:00 to 9:30 PM) and Sunday, 30 August (9:00 AM to 1:30 PM).  This combines classroom training with some field work.  There are no prerequisites other than an interest in enriching the lives of children through soccer.
2.      Basic Referee Online Companion Course, held on Sunday, 13 September from 9:00AM to 1:30 PM.  This training requires that you cover the material using an on-line course before the classroom session.  This on-line training can be taken to your own schedule.  The face-to-face training on 9/13 covers the field work and other matters which are difficult to teach on-line, and answers any questions you might have.

Either of these options will certify you as a Regional referee, able to referee in U8 and U10 matches.  They both end in a test which confirms your understanding of the laws of the game.  Option 1 probably takes more of your time, but contains more practical information that will help you start refereeing.

Please let me know which of these options youd like to take.  And please sign up as a volunteer at
                https://www.eayso.org/
if you havent already.  Please let me know if you have any issues with signup or have any questions whatsoever.

Thank you for volunteering to referee in AYSO.  I look forward to seeing you in the classroom soon, and then on the field.

Preeti,
Thanks for your email. Your team needs a designated referee in order to make sure we have enough referees to officiate games all season, and to ensure your child's team gets a real game rather than a scrimmage the first weekend of the season. We will train, equip and mentor your team referee.

What you can do is talk to your team parents. If one is already certified as a referee, they can be the team designate. Team referee counts as a regional AND team job. If you don't have a parent already certified, please let them know one of the team parents needs to take on this role, and get certified as a referee. There is a two part training being held tonight and Sunday, or they can take the first half of the training online at www.aysotraining.org before taking the second half of the training in person on September 13.

You know which parents on your team have committed to team jobs and which haven't. Please remind the parents that AYSO is an all volunteer organization and that all our efforts are to ensure that our kids have a safe and fun playing experience.

Thanks for your help,
Kristina

Hi Christy,
This was a blanket email, so don't worry about it. But thanks for checking. On a separate note, I believe we are neighbors. Don't you live on Montreal Drive? If so, I live around the corner from you. Which of your children is playing in Region 64?
best,
Kristina

Hi Hari,
I have to create accounts for new referees. There were 26 of you and it's a laborious  manual process. Please bear with me, your accounts will all be set up by Tuesday and you'll receive a welcome email from Arbiter with your login information. The games won't be uploaded to Arbiter before Tuesday anyway.
Thanks for your patience.
