Please note that there will be weekly round robin play both for U8Girls and U10Girls. You'll see 3 games "linked" in Arbiter. The games will be back to back and are set up so that you must sign up for all three at once. This will continue throughout the season.

2. HOT HOT weather!
The temperatures are supposed to be 100+ this weekend. Please keep yourselves hydrated, and allow a little extra time at quarter breaks to let the players get water as well.

3. Welcome New Referees!

19 new referees completed their Regional certification on August 30, with another 16 candidates scheduled to complete their certifications this Sunday. We are very excited to have new blood. Please help our new refs feel welcome and comfortable on the field. They'll be signing up for U10 AR slots for the next few weeks, so I'd appreciate it if returning referees could wait to fill those slots until Thursday evening. Senior referees, please take the center slots and mentor our new refs.

4. No Team Referee= No First Game

We are pushing very hard this year to make sure all U8-U10 teams have a designated team referee. All U12-U19 teams must designate two team referees. If your child is playing on a team, please claim the team referee job (it counts as both your team AND region job). Your team manager can designate you in WYS, All you have to do is bring your kit to your child's games, and fill in if the game is short a referee. Notify me after the game so I can be sure to credit you in Arbiter. Teams who do not designate a team referee by this Friday are at risk of the first game being a scrimmage instead of a full game. A scrimmage could jeopardize the teams chance of tournament play at the end of the season.

5. Selma Olinder Park

This is the first year that Region 1631 (downtown SJ) has U10 teams, and they will be interlocking with our U10 teams this season. Due to scheduling issues, you'll see games scheduled between two U10 R64 teams at Selma Olinder Park (off Hwy 280 and 11th street). The second team is probably a R1631 team with a placeholder R64 team number. If you can referee these games both R64 and R1631 thank you in advance.

6. BAFSL and MySoccerLeague

In addition to our regular recreational team play on Saturdays, R64 has some elite teams playing in BAFSL (formerly known as the Extra Program, now the Bay Area Fall Soccer League) on Saturdays and Sundays. BAFSL games are great fun to referee as they are a faster, higher caliber of play. BAFSL games are scheduled using a different online software package called mysoccerleague.com.
