Dear New Referees,
We can't wait to see you on the field! Your Arbiter accounts are all now active (except for the few of you I've contacted separately to complete Safe Haven) and the games have been published. You should have received a welcome email from Arbiter with your temporary password. Please log in, change your password, and start looking for games.

After getting questions from a couple of refs who didn't see any games, I put together the attached PowerPoint that will walk you through how to successfully use Arbiter and find games to officiate. For reference, Region 64 games are at Sedgwick ES and Wilson Park for U10 (which is what I recommend you start with), U8 games are at John Muir. All of Area 2J uses Arbiter and we share referees, so if you find games that better fit your schedule, but are in Cupertino (R35), Saratoga (R27), downtown SJ (R1631), Evergreen (R1590) or Prunedale/Salinas (R256), sign up for those. For the first few weeks, I ask that you sign up for U10 games in R64, where we'll have senior referees centering games and ready to mentor you. After you've been an AR for several weeks at U10 and are comfortable there, try signing up to center a U8 game.

In class, we flew through the section on using Arbiter. The screenshots in the attached PowerPoint will serve as a tutorial. If you have any questions or problems signing up after reviewing the file, please email me.

Also, I am aware of a hiccup with the RRA alias that is sending bounce messages. Our web person is still trying to figure out what's going on with that. Most of the messages are getting through anyway, but thank you for resending them to my email address just in case.

Finally, I use Yahoogroups to send out updates to referees during the season. The moderator has added all new adult referees to AYSO...@yahoo.com and PRO refs to
AYSO64...@yahoo.com. You should begin to see email blasts to those groups tonight or tomorrow.

If there is anything further, I or the rest of the RRA staff can to help you, please let us know. As you may have heard: no referee= no game. Thank you for volunteering. Now, jump in and have fun!
Kristina

Hi Shad,
No worries. I have unassigned you from game 1328. I don't see game 1558, so please assign yourself to that one.
thanks for signing up!

Hi Kristina
First time and I already made a mistake. I signed up for game 1328 which is a R35-10G at 9 AM.  Can you switch that with 1558 R64-10G? I didn't want to self assign two games. Or you can cancel 1328 and I can self-assign 1558.

Thanks
Shaf
