Hi,

As you may have noticed FSP fields have many cracks due to the extended period of no rain.  It has been extra dry this year.  For some reason, areas around FSP have had rain, but rain has stayed away from FSP.

We want to let you know that we have tried to fix the problem by filling the holes with sand, but what we found out was that a small hole takes a tremendous amount of sand, and there are many holes to fill.  It is therefore not a realistic solution.  The option of using city water has also been there.  We are actually hooked up to the city water line.  Unfortunately the pressure from the city water line is not enough to even supply one line.  To get an idea, we have a total of 72 lines and the operation is manual.  Doing it during the day when we have somebody at the facility is a waste of time.  It is extremely hot and the water evaporates as soon as it hits the ground.  It make very little difference and we end up throwing a lot of money away.

A permanent solution to the problem is to build a well.  It cost sixty thousand dollars to build one.  We tried to build one when the facility was built, but the company we hired was not successful.  We thought we could get away without it given that we had a lake and could trap rain water enough to supply us during the three hottest months of summer.  We have been lucky to some extend until now.

We have hired a different company to build a well for us and have put down a deposit.  We are on their waiting list.  It is the nature of the business.  They are currently on schedule to start drilling at the end of this month.  As soon as that happens, the plan is to water the fields as much as possible.  It will however take a couple of days before we pump enough water in the lake to allow for watering.

As you can see, there are no easy solutions to the problem.  Some parents have volunteered to help fix the problem with sand and soil.  If you want to join them, you are welcome to do so.  I will send out an email when we are ready with all we need to get the job started.  It will be a difficult task, but maybe with many people helping we may be able to make a dent.  We will be purchasing some sand, soil and wheel barrow to help in the process.

We appreciate your understanding on the matter and give thanks to those are offering to help.

Thanks
