Subject: [Ayrshire History] Pub at Ayr Harbour

Hi
I am trying to remember the name of a Pub that used to stand on the south side of Ayr Harbour opposite the fishing boats and the fish market. It was a very old building and I am pretty sure it was an ice house before it became a pub. I worked there for as a part-time student job in the 1970's and its the only time in my life that I have ever been tipped fish! The stained glass windows of the front doors were, I was told 'priceless'. It was one of the old school pubs - all types of customers came in there - fishermen, business folk, working folk, students, Glasgow tourists (who had not yet discovered Spain) etc. Anyway, I would be greatful if anyone can provide information on the name and any other notes of historical interest. Not sure why they felt they had to demolish it.

Yes the Steamboat is still there and the Fort bar sits next door door . The Marine bar sat accross from the fish market and was knocked down in the eighties.

No. It was the Steamboat Inn during the 40s & 50s
