Hello! I hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, I want to take a moment to congratulate everyone here for the support and inspiration you provide for the preservation and promotion of history. Your commitment to keeping the stories of the past alive is invaluable and so greatly appreciated.
Secondly, I would like to introduce my new historical fiction novel, To The Heart of the Man. This book captures the story of Captain John Piper (1774–1851), originally a resident of Maybole, Scotland, who rose to become a prominent figure in the early days of colonial New South Wales.
It tells of Captain Piper’s remarkable journey from Scotland to a meteoric rise in early 19th-century Sydney, where he was declared "The Prince of Australia."
To The Heart of the Man traces Captain Piper's public disgrace at the hands of Governor Darling and subsequent move to Bathurst, New South Wales, where he again found his footing and played a pivotal role in shaping this settlement, especially in the establishment of the Scottish Church in Bathurst.
I am a descendant of Captain Piper, and so writing this book has been an important process of understanding my ancestry and how it has shaped me today. I hope that this novel will resonate with those interested in Scottish heritage and Australian colonial history and contribute to a deeper understanding of this period.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or thoughts or would like to discuss this further. Thank you again for all of your efforts in sustaining and sharing our vital history.
Here's wishing you a wonderful day!
With kindest regards,
