Neighborhood Meeting for Proposed UK Parking Lot
The University of Kentucky is inviting neighborhood residents to attend a meeting at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24th. Lance Broeking, UK Campus Services Administrator and Anthany Beatty, Assistant Vice President for Public Safety, will be present to answer questions and present designs for re-vamped surface parking along Euclid Avenue behind the Alumni Center.
The proposed design includes expanding the current parking lot by eliminating the portion of Linden Walk connecting Euclid and Rose Lane and razing two University properties, the apartment building and the bungalow at 404 and 408 Linden Walk. The expanded parking here absorbs the loss of parking spaces behind Memorial Coliseum due to the construction of the Marksbury Digital Technologies Building (the steel-beam structure currently under construction on Rose Street) and the upcoming Wildcat Coal Lodge. The proposed design includes the Art-in-Motion bus stop as well as varied green spaces and tree plantings.
The meeting will open a discussion focused on the impending parking losses, the opportunities and challenges associated with a potential reconfiguration of Linden Walk, and what both mean to the Aylesford neighborhood.
The location of the meeting is pending; we will send out an e-mail notification Monday. Please spread the word—everyone is encouraged to attend.
Thanks,
Greg Guenthner
