Hey Roadrunners!
We had another windy weekend of practices! We loaded up three Picos and got 9 beginners out on the water Friday evening. For some of them, it was their first sail! Thank you to Roadrunner dads Jeff Brock and Andrew Scheifele for sailing with the kids and for all the parents who stayed to help out on the docks. Congratulations to Lucy Brock, Nicholas Carew, and Julius Heitkoetter for passing their Opti I knots! These three are the first Roadrunners with their names up on the rank chart! We had a great turnout for Laser/FJ practice on Saturday with 10 sailors ages 12-18! Thank you to our experienced participants who skippered for our newer sailors in the heavy breeze. Also a big thank you to all the parent helpers, especially Annamarie Dean and Lisa Schuttger for assisting aboard the coach boat.
This week's schedule:
FRIDAY: 4:00-6:30 Basics/Beginners
SATURDAY: 9:00-1:00 Roadrunner Work Party! We need as many extra hands as possible to help fix up our boats and facilities before the Roadrunner
Regatta! No experience or repair knowledge necessary-- we have projects for everyone! Snacks will be provided! Please bring your tools and spring
cleaning clothes!
1:30-4:00 Green Fleet
4:00-6:30 Laser/FJ
SUNDAY: 1:00-4:00 Free Sail Sunday
Please RSVP for practices and the Roadrunner Work Party. Also, please let me know if a parent is available to stay and help out at practice, either aboard the coach boat or on the dock.
ROADRUNNER NEWS:
We had several AYC Roadrunners compete at Lake Canyon Yacht Club's Spring Fling Regatta. Congratulations to Meredith and Michael Morran who placed 1st in the 420 fleet, winning all 6 races! Alexandra Mares finished 4th and Spencer Legrande finished 6th in Opti Red Fleet. New member Tony Slowik placed 6th in his Opti White fleet debut! Congratulations! - March 23: Roadrunner Work Party from 9:00-1:00. Come help fix up our boats and facilities!
- March 23: AYC Basic Keel Boat Clinic from 1:00-5:00. For all the
parents out there who would like to learn to sail, this is the clinic

- March 30-31: AYC Easter Laser Regatta (open to Laser sailors of all ages!)
- April 6-7: Roadrunner Regatta
- April 14: Roadrunner Sail with Austin Sailboat Rentals on Lady Bird Lake. Please RSVP!
- April 20: No practice for Green Fleet or Laser/FJ sailors. Participants are invited to attend the Scott Young Dinghy Start Clinic at no cost in place of practice. Details to follow.

The Roadrunner Regatta is our stop on TSA's Youth Circuit and is one of the biggest youth sailing events in Texas. We usually see close to 100 youth sailors from across the region. This is a weekend you will not want to miss!
Parents, we are still looking for volunteers to help out with meals, mostly set-up and clean-up. We need all hands on deck for this event so please sign up for a shift at http://volunteersignup.org/CWPFB
The Notice of Race has been posted and registration is open at txsail.org. Sign up before April 1st to avoid a $10.00 late registration fee. Please contact me if you would like to borrow an AYC Opti or Laser for this event. For FJ charters, contact Steve Gay at Steve Gay at (512) 257-2386 or seg...@myfairpoint.net. If you are looking to be paired up with a skipper or crew, please let me know.
Lastly, we only have two practice weekends left before Roadrunner, so if you plan on competing, please try and make it out to practice!
